BECAUSE IT’S SCRUB 0’CLOCK SOMEWHERE

BY MELISSA BUSTAMANTE

Summer break has come and gone, but we have not quite reached the end of summer season. The temperatures have been peaking lately leaving us not only tired and weary, but leaving our lips looking a bit quenched too!

There is and always will be much talk and concern about cleanser this and body scrub that- and while these steps in your skincare regimen are always important, we cannot forget about lip care! Lip service-no, Kiss my lips-no, My lips are sealed-no.  LIP CARE – YES! All things LIPS!!!

Today we are going to go over tips on how to and why to care for your lips.

1. Exfoliate

We exfoliate regularly to polish dead, flaky skin away, it helps hydrate your skin. It also allows for lip treatments and lip moisturizers you apply to be more effective. With that layer of skin out of the way, your lips can absorb the hydrating benefits of these products better.

Here at the Salon Sanity we carry Farm House Fresh Lip Polish in three different scents Beach Punch, Blackberry Wine and Whoopie. Apply a small amount of Lip Polish to lips and gently massage. Remove with a damp cloth. Follow with your favorite lip moisturizer. Gentle enough to use daily. The benefits of such polishes are that they sweep away rough patches, condition, soften and smooth dry lips.

2. Hydrate

Unlike the rest of your skin, lips tend to dry out and become chapped easily since they do not contain oil glands. Drink lots of water and avoid doing what most of us do, licking your lips!  If your lips are dry or cracked, that’s a sign of dehydration.  Moisturizing your lips keep them soft and supple. We carry products made by both Dermalogica and Farm House Fresh to help with these problem areas.

First, Dermalogica’s Nightly lip treatment is an anti-aging treatment for lip and tissue around the lips. It smoothes the appearance of laugh and feather lines while you sleep and helps restore skin volume on and around the lips. It hydrates to improve skin resilience and restore barrier function against visible signs of ageing.  At bedtime apply generously and massage into skin on and around the lip area.

Chock full of : Organic Micro Rainbow Sprinkles Extract, Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Castor Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Aloe Extract. Lastly, say hello to the new kid on the block, Blackberry Crush Hydrating Lip Balm. Berry nice to meet you!  Farm House Fresh is giving chapped lips a run for their money. This long-wear formula lasts and lasts with just one application. Chock full of: Olive Fruit Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter and Sunflower Seed Oil. Apply to lips for deep hydration, and whenever they feel dry or chapped. These lip balms are not tinted.

Take away

A regular lip care routine can help keep your lips soft and smooth.

Your lips don’t have the oil glands found elsewhere on your skin. This sets them up for dryness and chapping, especially in cold, extremely hot, or windy weather.

Its recommended to start with a routine of lip exfoliation once to three times a week.

Look for a lip balm with ingredients like shea butter and apply anytime your lips feel dry.
