Why Is My Hair Falling Out?

 

Hair loss is a common concern that affects many people at different stages of life. Even though it is natural to shed a certain about of hair daily, excessive hair loss can be alarming and often will indicate an underlying issue. The reasons can vary, from stress to nutrient deficiencies, but the good news is that there are solutions to address each. 

 

Stress is one of the most common contributors to hair loss. When your body is under stress, physical or emotional, is can disrupt the natural hair growth cycle. This causes more hair follicles to enter the resting phase prematurely, resulting in increased hair shedding. 

 

Next, your diet plays a critical role in the health of your hair. Hair needs a variety of nutrients to grow strong and healthy, including proteins, vitamins, and minerals. A diet lacking in essential nutrients can lead to weak, brittle hair and increased hair loss. 

 

Sleep is often overlooked when considering hair health, but during sleep your body repairs and regenerates cells that support hair health and growth, including hair follicles. Poor sleep patterns or chronic sleep deprivation can lead to hormonal imbalances and increased stress, both of which can trigger hair loss. 

 

A weak immune system can affect your hair’s length, leading to hair loss. Autoimmune conditions can cause the immune system to attack hair follicles, resulting in sudden and patchy hair loss. A compromised immune system can make your body more susceptible to infections and illnesses, which can trigger hair shedding. 

 

A deficiency in essential vitamins and minerals is a leading cause of hair loss. Nutrients such a biotin, iron, zinc, and collagen are critical for hair health. Without them, your hair can become weak, brittle, and prone to shedding.
