Winter Hair
Care Tips by Melissa Bustamante
The more
that you read, the more things that you will know. The more that you learn, the
more places you will go. – Dr. Suess
The best
salons lead, educate and empower their clientele to learn how to look and feel their
best not only when making decisions about color and styles but maintenance
after they walk out of the salon. Once
you treat yourself to a new hair service, color or cut you always walk out
feeling like a new person and we want you to
hold on to that loving feeling!
Do you hear
what I hear? Tis the season to standout!
This winter season is upon us and with it, it will bring the cold and
dry air. We want to ensure you do stand
out, but not because of flakes or broken hair left on your shoulders from a dry
scalp or damaged hair. So let’s talk
about what you can do to promote healthy scalp and hair and what services and products
we offer.
Heating- Especially in the winter try to
limit over heating your hair be it with a hair dryer or iron, I know I know
they are my best friend. So if you are like me and can’t break away from the heat
just be sure to protect your hair. We recommend Redken’s Extreme Play Safe
3-in-1 leave in treatment and Redken Thermal Sprays Iron Shape 11 and 21. These
are a must have for protecting hair from thermal heat and preventing damage.
Shampooing- When it comes to shampooing it’s
during this time of year that we want to show a little TLC to our hair and
scalp. How often you shampoo your hair should depend on how much oil your scalp
produces or lack thereof. When you
think of your skin understand that your scalp is an extension of it and just as
your skin needs bathing and moisturizing so does your scalp. You know your hair better than anyone so if
you have any doubt know that oily hair may need to be washed daily while dry
and chemically treated hair not so much. Also, try to avoid pony tails and hot
showers despite how relaxing they can be, luke warm water or cold water on your
hair, scalp and skin will be less drying.
Brushing – When hair is dryer than normal
brushing gently is the way to go.
Remember wet hair is more fragile, so perhaps try to let it air dry
first and brush later, brushing from the ends upward. We recommend a wide-tooth
brush with smooth-coated prongs. Our favorites are our WET brushes!
And now for
the best of the best products that will bring Joy to your world!
